Havaianas

The real founder of Havaianas remains a mystery. What is important is that, since 1962, the Brazilian brand has been the epitome of sandals, perfect for the life and atmosphere of the South American people. Inspired by the Japanese zori sandal, Havaianas replaced the straw with high-quality Brazilian rubber. When deciding on a name for the brand, the most desirable destination for Brazilians came to mind: Hawaii. Havaianas means 'Hawaiians' in Portuguese, in honor of the glamorous holiday destination with endless summer vibes. The Havaianas flip-flop became a global symbol of relaxation, comfort, social inclusion, and cultural identity, enough to be officially recognized as an intrinsic part of Brazilians' lives by the Brazilian Government after they were included on a list of fundamental products. Havaianas collaborated with A Bathing Ape, Mastermind Japan, Jean Paul Gaultier, Vibram, and many others.
